
-Students will paint a sphere analyzing the gradation of light to dark examining the studio's specific light paying attention to the incoming angle of light. The sphere study will be utilized throughtout this course of study.
-Students set-up and draw their own still life with instruction given to the envelope, proportions, the inherent rhythm within, modeling, creating a carefully methodical graphite drawing of their set-up. An accurate drawing is the foundation to a beautifully executed painting.
-The still life drawing will be transferred to their painting board. The first layer of paint will be applied followed by multiple layers, allowing time for each layer to dry completely before proceeding to the next layer.
-Indirect paniting techniques are studied, researched, and executed.
-As student advance their still life set-up becomes more complicated.
- Homework is assigned focusing on examining the angel of incoming light on existing works by other artists. Students will be asked to show the angel and direction of the sole light source based on these works. Color swatches will be given for the student to mix and match on their own paying attention to hue, value, chroma.
